Peru Organic Guardian del Bosque Gesha| 22oz @ $13.50 per lb + $15 roasting fee

$28.50

So far as Gesha goes, this wet process coffee from Guardian del Bosque farm brings a light floral overlay to softly rounded sweetness, accented by hints of fruit, and the aromatic bittering of green herbs. The fragrance at City roast level smelled quite nice, with sweet notes of raw sugar and honey, laced with fresh herbs, and floral dried potpourri. Fruit aspects are pulled to the front a bit in the wet aroma, with suggestions of pear and apple, along with a light jasmine note. For brewing, I highly recommend sticking to a light roast, no darker than City+. Gesha coffee is know for its floral character, and dark roasts threaten to obfuscate that element. City roast level was perfect for me, satisfying sweetness relative to the cup profile, contrasted by soft aromatic highlights. The sweetness has an aspect of simple syrup, with a fragrant note of Pink Lady apple, and a dried orange peel note that livened up the perceived acidity. Floral notes may be faint, but are distinctly jasmine, fading to aromatic herbals aspects of lemongrass and green tea as the coffee cools. The aftertaste has some pleasant bittering notes at the tip of your tongue, pointing to green herbs like lemon balm, and blackberry leaf. Scores an 89.7!
